GPAQ Touchscreen in Use
GPAQ Touchscreen enables the patient, following a consultation, to complete the GPAQ questionnaire anonymously in a few minutes. An opening page invites the respondent to select their language (Arabic, Bengali, English, Urdu or Welsh). The welcome page is then displayed which gives simple, clear instructions. No explanation is required by staff. The appearance of the questions on screen is clear, allowing easy interpretation and response. The answer options are aligned neatly beside the question and the patient selects the answer by touching the screen. On completing the questions on the page, an obvious continue button appears labelled NEXT. Patients may alter the answers to the questions on the page as often as they wish, until they select the NEXT button. On selecting NEXT, the next page of questions and answer options appears. Once the patient has completed the questionnaire the answers are saved automatically and exported to a data file in excel. The program then returns to the first page of the questionnaire, "the welcome page" and awaits the next patient.

The program allows the Practice to enter the names of doctors and ancillary staff that are to be involved in the study so that the patients can respond accurately. When the data is stored it identifies the staff members by code only (not by name).
The 2008 version of GPAQ Touchscreen includes templates for five different styles of question page which enable the Practice to design its own touch-screen questionnaire. These allow answers in the form of text tick boxes (up to 29 questions), free text and numerals (3 questions), numeric keyboard (3 questions) and linear analogue scale (4 questions)and a question which allows you to target specific patient groups.
